ForLorne

The Whedonverse is mourning the loss of one of it's own. Angel star Andy Hallett has passed away at the age of 33.

Hallett starred as Lorne, aka The Host, aka Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan. He died of heart failure late Sunday night in Los Angeles. According to his publicist Pat Brady, he'd been admitted to the hospital several times in the last few years for his condition.

Originally from Osterville, Massachussettes, Hallett was discovered by Joss Whedon while singing in a Universal City Blues revue. It wasn't until after he first appeared on Angel that he got himself an agent. Brady actually called the show asking about him. After the show ended he spent most of his time on his musical career.

I was skeptical about his character at first but Lorne grew on me quickly. It's a shame he died so young. Here's something to remember him by.

O.K., first, I've never watched the show. I've seen the actor in that role but never watched Angel long enough to care about it. Not dissing this actor nor the show, but I am leaving a comment because I've also had 2 heart failures and now have Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.

I'm not stating it to garner sympathy, but to warn anyone reading this, it can happen to anyone at anytime, regardless whether or not you're physically fit, as I was! I used to lift weights and jog, watched my diet, etc.

There are several causes, part of it is genetic, sometimes the flu virus can mess things up as happened to me. High blood pressure is the main factor, so if you think you have high BP or know someone who does, be ever vigilant about your health and your meds!

Just be careful with your health.

All I wanted to say.

Very sad. Like you, Jill, I wasn't sure about his character when he was first introduced to the show, but Lorne quickly became the "heart" of Angel team. From what I hear, he was a great guy, lots of fun at conventions, and always there for the fans. 33 is way too young.

Aw, that's sad. Lorne was one of my favorites. I have a soft spot for karaoke so a singing green-faced demon who runs a supernatural karaoke bar-- comedy gold. I shall do the Dance of Remembrance for you, Krethlornswath.

Never was a fan of his lounge lizard shtick on Angel, but it's still really sad for anyone so young to pass away. I'm sure he will be fondly remembered.

I'm beginning to think that 33 is a dangerous age.

My condolences to his family and friends.

I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple times at the Mid-Ohio Con. He would always run a Saturday night karaoke at the bar in the hotel the con was at. He was a very genial host, always with a good sense of humor. And nice. He was nice.

One year, I went with this friend of mine who has epilepsy. He used to have this great singing voice before a bad year of seizures kinda took that away from him.

It had been so long since he sang and with begging and pleading from both me and Mr. Hallet we convinced him to sing. Well, after that, we wound up closing the bar because I couldn't get my friend to leave.
