Happy Anniversary to Me!

In marriage, they say the first year is the hardest and if you can make it through that the rest will be a piece of cake. Does that go for blog writing too? I'd like to think so. Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of "Has Boobs, Reads Comics."

I'm working on something fun to post tomorrow so I thought today, I'd take a look back. Here are my top viewed posts of all year:

5.) Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra - My experience at my very first Star Trek Convention. I can't believe it took me that long.

4.) Who guards the Mouse Guard? - My interview with MG creator David Petersen. He's an extremely nice fella. If you aren't reading his comic, you should be.

3.) Batastrophe - My incredible frustration with the ending of Batman R.I.P. We know more about the "real" ending to the story now but that didn't make me feel any better.

2.) A Spell Is Cast - My excitement about Zatanna being cast on Smallville. This one shot right up the list recently due to Rich linking to me and the hot babe. Mostly the hot babe.

1.) NY COMIC CON Day 2 - 2 yaD NOC CIMOC YN - I was very happy with this post and I'd like to think my keen journalistic skills have something to do with it being number one but I'm gonna play it safe and go with "girl in costume" for this one.

Now that I've got that out of the way I want to link you to several of my favorite posts from this past year. Most of these didn't get as many hits as the top 5 but I'm proud of what I wrote so read them if you haven't and show some love.

I can't tell you how happy I am with the success of the blog in just one year. I enjoy it so much but it's been a lot of hard work. I want to thank everyone who's ever visited here and especially my loyal every day readers for keeping me going. Without you I'd be a regular old nerdy girl typing to herself.

A lot of great stuff has happened this year. For one, I was in Elle FREAKING magazine! Never in my life did I think that would happen. Let's try for more of that kind of stuff this year. By the way, I finally found an online version of the article in case you never got to see it in print. I began writing my column, DoubleDCoverage (along with other bits) at the Girls Entertainment Network. If you don't believe hot geek girls exist, you're not looking very well. These girls rock and I wish we all lived closer so we could be geeky together offline.

I also met tons of awesome people! Creators, other bloggers, fellow nerds. Thank you for being who you are. Speaking of being who you are...remember my MTV True Life: I'm a Fanboy video? Doesn't look like they picked me but I enjoyed making it and I hope you got a kick out of watching it.

Oh and, the most highly used search in google to get here to my blog? "Boobs" by a LANDSLIDE. Thanks perverts!

So where to now? It's safe to say the fun doesn't stop here. Nerdy News is constantly happening and I have a lot more I'm sure to ADORE this year. Remember you can find me on Myspace, Facebook and Twitter now too and I hope you'll help vote me Best Geek Blog of 2009. There are some big things on the horizon for "Has Boobs, Reads Comics." It's nothing I can speak of yet but I'm hoping you'll all stick with my blog...what's that they say? As long as we both shall live? No pressure or anything. :)

Joyeux anniversaire and long life to your wonderful blog! :-)

I initially found your blog by googling the key words "comics" and "boobs", so I guess that makes me half a geek and half a perv! ;-)

I was actually thinking of writing something about oversized breasts of female comics characters and wanted to see what others had written on the subject before me. So I ended up here completely by accident but I'm very glad I did! :-)

Keep up the great work! And I can't wait to see what you have in store for us in the future!

Well, being a married man, I put away such juvenile fascinations with breasts a long time ago and I.....

Aw, who am I kidding! I'm still obsessed with boobs. Once a perv always a perv, I say.

Seriously though, happy anniversary, Jill. It has been an awesome pleasure reading your blog. And you can certainly count on me to be sticking around. I don't think I could live with myself knowing that without me here you would just keep typing to yourself. ;)

I honestly do not remember how I came across your blog, but I am awfully glad I did. And you know how I feel about blogs, my dear.

Happy Anniversay, Jill.

I only stumbled upon your blog a month ago but it was quickly added to my own as a "Must Read" every day.

I wish you continued success in all of your endeavors.

Happy Anniversary. You know, our sites are basically the same age (you're older by 2 months), and I hope that in another 5 years, we'll still both be doing the same thing, and catching up on the wild and crazy times year one was. Here's to another year of Nerdy Bird.

See you in NY.

My story for finding your blog is as follows ...

Last year at the NY Comic Con (which was in April), I saw you motor past in full Zatanna costume, and said to Freakgirl, "Hey, isn't that that girl from the internets?" I think you and she had actually emailed a few times, but my only exposure had been a Flickr photo of you with Hayden Panettiere and a funny description of that encounter.

Anyway, after hearing the word "gagglefrak" during the BSG panel, I decided a few days later to start a blog, and once I did, I actively sought out other sites to draw inspiration from. Yours was one of the first few on my blog roll, and is still one of a handful of sites that I make a point of visiting every day (except Saturdays and Sundays).

Congrats on reaching a year, and for the site's success. You totally deserve it! Although my hits have grown slowly over the past 10 months, something tells me that your traffic is far more impressive than mine. And not only because of the word "boobs" ... although I'm sure that doesn't hurt! Hmmm, maybe if I rename my site "gaggleboobs" ...

Thank you everyone! It doesn't really how you all got here, just that you did and you stayed. :)

The thing that always fascinated me about the just plain "boobs" search was this. Boobs are plentiful on the internet. How many countless pages of search items must it take before someone actually gets to my site? That boob dedication right there.

Luke, here's to lots more from both of us! Make sure you yell out if you see me at the Javitts (unless I'm right next to you, then don't yell) because as GB said, I can speed by pretty fast.

GB, gaggleboobs has a nice ring to it. I can't wait to see you guys this year. We should try and do lunch or something if our schedules allow.

Congrats on your anniversary! This is one of the blogs I frequent almost every day. I think you're a great writer and have tons of interesting things to say. I don't remember how I stumbled across your blog (probably through another blog), but I'm glad I did. Keep writing and congrats again! XD
